Independent, document-based opinion

Confidence for buyers & sellers.

Montres Authentificateur is an independent authentication service for watches based on the photos and documents you provide. Think of it like a home inspection—we evaluate what we can see and state whether the depicted watch appears authentic, along with condition notes and risk flags. We do not appraise or guarantee market value.

Inspired by brands’ “extract of the archives”, focused on authenticity and evidence—not ownership status or condition guarantees.

How it works

1) Submit

Provide clear photos of the exact watch: dial, case, caseback, lugs, rehaut, movement, clasp/endlinks, serial/reference, and any cards/receipts.

2) Review

We analyze the evidence for coherence (fonts, finishes, parts, serial ranges, paperwork) and common red flags—including altered or mismatched documents.

3) Opinion

You receive a written, independent opinion stating whether the depicted watch appears authentic based on the submitted evidence, plus condition notes.

4) Negotiate

Use the report as your negotiation edge—like a home inspection—to proceed confidently or to walk away.

Authentication ≠ Appraisal

We do not determine market or insurance value. We do not guarantee condition or future performance. Our service opines on authenticity of the watch depicted and describes observed condition from the evidence you submit.

  • Evidence-based opinion on authenticity of the depicted watch
  • Condition notes & risk flags from photos/docs
  • No market valuation or price guidance
  • No guarantee of present existence or possession

Similar in spirit to a manufacturer’s “extract of the archives”: a document-driven statement—not a warranty, valuation, or proof of ownership.

Why this matters

Buyers are often asked to move fast with imperfect information. Authorized dealers rarely authenticate third‑party trades, and paperwork can be misleading.

“My friend bought a Rolex where the date on the card was smudged—made the watch look younger.”

— A cautionary tale highlighting the need for document scrutiny.

Our report helps you calibrate trust without conflating authenticity with price.

Typically, no. ADs usually do not facilitate third‑party trades or authenticate watches for prospective buyers. Our service fills that gap by evaluating your evidence independently.
We call out inconsistencies (e.g., smudged or mismatched dates, serial/reference mismatches). Where evidence is insufficient or contradictory, we provide a risk‑weighted assessment and recommended next steps.
